The Analyst will report directly to the Collection Manager, with a strong working relationship with the entire Corporate Accounting team as well as establishing and maintaining a positive and professional working relationship with key community associates such as, the Executive Director, Director of Business Administration and the Regional Director of Operations.  

Principle Duties and Responsibility 

  1. Responsible for maintaining timely reimbursement of Private and Subsidy receivables using established guidelines. Comply, enhance, implement and monitor corporate collection policies and procedures giving emphases on proactive AR strategies and positive collection results.
  2. Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with outside vendors IE: State Subsidy programs including ALSA PILOT (CT), GAFC (MA) Waiver (RI), along with 3rd party collection agencies, litigation attorneys and credit reporting agencies utilizing their services to maximize positive corporate financial return while reducing potential bad debt write offs.
  3. The Collection Analyst will be responsible for all Subsidy receivables which includes maintaining a close working relationship with Benchmarks 3rd party billing agent, Single Source Solutions (SSS).
  4. Reviews monthly remittance reports for accuracy. Communicates and corresponds with appropriate payers, resident responsible parties, family members and communities, to correct or modify payments received as it pertains to reconciling private pay / subsidy liability, including cost sharing, researching denied claims and assigning appropriate payer liability.   
  5. Researches, communicates and responds to inquiries at the home office level as it pertains to private pay / subsidy financial responsibility from residents, resident responsible parties, family members, BSL associates, as well as State personnel accordingly.
  6. Researches and processes final subsidy accounting reconciliation following processes in place for refunds to the appropriate State or Private payer.
  7. Be available to all community and corporate associates assisting them with any collection related matters giving support and guidance where needed.
  8. The Collection Analyst will maintain a portfolio of potential bad debt accounts where s/he is responsible for the monitory collection thereof in accordance to written corporate collection policy and procedure.
  9. The Collection Analyst will establish and maintain a monthly reporting mechanism for tracking and monitoring collection activity on his/her assigned portfolio.            
  10. The Collection Analyst will be available to community associates and must be willing to assist in AR related matters either remotely or on-site at specific or assigned communities as directed.
  11. The Collection Analyst will be expected to have the ability to and be available for at minimum 10% travel.

Job Requirements

Education / Experience / Licensure / Certification:

  • High School graduate or equivalent certification; Associates degree desirable
  • 5 years progressive AR, Accounting or direct consumer collections experience
  • Working knowledge of Medicaid and Long Term Care billing and reimbursement
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge in State and Federal collection rules and regulations IE: Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (Title:8) (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (Title:9) (FCRA)
